The Diseased and Disguised Tour
Photos and Review by Gretchen Smither
The Diseased and Disguised co-headlining tour of Motionless In White and Beartooth made a stop in Norfolk, Virginia on January 27 to a sold out crowd. Despite it being a Monday night, concert goers were out in full force for this headbanger of a show. Every inch of the venue was packed and the energy levels of those in attendance were at an all time high.
This was my first show for 2020, and I couldn’t have been more excited. Even though the venue was roughly two hours away from me (and one I had never been to), and I knew I would be exhausted the next day, I was amped to see these two bands perform. If you’ve never seen Motionless In White perform live before, they have quite a presence. With their industrial stage setup, the group performed a mix of old and new tracks while working the stage and the crowd. Just as energetic and enthusiastic, Beartooth kept the energy high when they performed shortly after MIW, playing also a good mix of their older and newer songs. Mosh pits were going the entire evening and headbanging took place from start to finish.
I’ve seen both Motionless In White and Beartooth on numerous occasions, the majority of the time on larger festival stages. But there was something different about their energy performing at a smaller venue. Both bands fully owned the stage during their sets, riling up the crowd for the entirety. Although both bands perform well for the larger festival crowds, there was something more energizing about them in the more intimate setting. With this tour ending shortly, those who attended can attest to how perfect the co-headlining pairing was.
