Deep House Movie Review

Review by Bri Butler

If you’re a horror or thriller fan like me I’m sure you’ve seen everything from the twisted intricate storytelling to gory to cheesy and everything in between. Recently I watched Deep House and here’s how that went. Two wanna-be-famous YouTube filmmakers specializing in underwater explorations decide to go on an adventure to make their amazing “this will make me rich” expedition video where it takes them to a secluded French lake. Like any horror movie all seems well…..at first. After coming upon a submerged house (as if that’s not creepy as it is) they decided to explore. Yeah, I know, why ? Right ?

Once inside things get weird. This house has some pretty evil secrets. It’s a semi slow build but the concept is really interesting. Haunted houses are already unnerving but being underwater is my personal hell scape. As things progress the pair begin to uncover the secrets of the satanic like situations that lead to the demise of not only the house but it’s inhabitants.

You get enough info in this film that it doesn’t leave you wanting a prequel or sequel however I think it could be a cool start to a trend of more underwater spooky things. This is more of a jump scare type horror film which I’ll admit aren’t my favorite, but I’ll give this a 6/10. Worth the watch for the experience but I wouldn’t put it in my top 20 of horror films.
