Point North Interview

Point North Interview

Interview by : Alicia Dittman

Hey y’all! My name is Alicia and I am a writer with Varsity Music Magazine!

Could you introduce yourself, and tell the readers who maybe don’t know who Point North is about you?

My name is Jon Lundin, I’m the vocalist for point north. I’ve been playing music for what seems like my entire life. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA in a small town called El Segundo. I grew up listening to just about every genre of music out there which gave me a versatile background in songwriting. I started recording and writing my own music when I was 14 or 15. My parents got me a cheap recording device for Christmas one year and I’ve been writing and producing ever since.

LOVE the new single “Into The Dark,” What was it like working with Kellin Quinn on that song and can we expect this sound shift more in the future?

Always love working with Kellin. I actually engineered their new album How It Feels To Be Lost and that’s how I met the SWS boys. We had a great time making the album and actually showed some of the stuff I had been working on to Kellin. After talks of potentially touring together it all came together for the Medicine Tour. It was great getting Kellin back in to do his parts on Into The Dark. You can definitely expect this songs vibe on some of the new music we have been writing.

Speaking of Kellin Quinn, you are currently on tour with Sleeping With Sirens, Set It Off and Belmont right now. It’s a very interesting line-up, but definitely a fresh take. You’re not hearing the same break-downs over and over again.. Would you agree?

I suppose. It is an eclectic line up for sure but after seeing the show so many nights, it definitely makes sense. I love the fact that each band has their own spice to bring to the shows.

What is your favorite part about touring?

I personally love just constantly being on the move. I think a few of us in Point North are a little ADD and constantly moving is the kind of headspace we like to live in. All of the traveling, stress and suffering that comes with touring all comes down to that 30 minutes on stage. To me, that’s what makes it worth it every single day. Nothing in the world beats the feeling of being up there.

I know you’ve had some member changes in the past year, so how are y’all vibing right now? To me, this seems like the core.

This is absolutely the core and we have never been stronger.

Can we expect an LP out from you this year? I know the fans want one!!

 Yep.

On the topic of LPs, What was your favorite album of 2019?

Can’t speak for the boys but for me, it’s Fine Line. Huge fan.

Settle the age old twitter debate for us: Crowdsurfing or No Crowdsurfing?!

Crowdsurfing come on now who even started this debate?
